My camp or your camp!!!!!!!
The other day I received an email from one of my well meaning Ngwa brothers and in it he told me how he had missed me at the 2008 convention. He told me that he had seen members of my camp / group and he would have liked to have spoken to me. In my response I said that I did not know that we had divided ourselves into camps. The only camp that I belonged to was the Ngwa camp.
A few days later I got another private email from another brother and he mentioned the same camp thing and asked, who put me up to my commentary on the email that the NNAUSA President had posted to Ndingwa. It was then I understood what this camp thing was about.
In NNAUSA we seem to have adopted the attitude that, being for me means to not critique what I do. If you support me you can't point out my failings.
I am sure we remember kindler gentler times. Ichie Ogbunamiri, Mazi Chima Uduko, Brother Udo Jacob and Mazi Nwangwa will be at pain to recognize the NNAUSA that we have today.
Mr. Nwankwo made an observation and was branded a liar. I guess his ears and eyes must have decieved him about the DJ.
Chief Mbonu makes an observation about shrimps and is knocked to the ground for his trouble. I guess as an Adventist he has no right to be offended that he was served shrimp. How dare he?
I questioned Dr. Elele and told him that the excuses he continues to use are no longer valid. He should lead instead of making excuses. And I got a reprimand by someone telling me that he expected better from me. I did not realize that I was no longer the son of HRH Engineer John I U Onwuasoanya.
Our conversations should be on the issue. Lets have arguments or discussions on the merit of the subject being discussed. I was accused of personalizing my observations. My people it is personal for me. My wife and I send $200.00 a year to NNAUSA. My chapter sends over $4600.00 to the National every year. This makes it very personal. I have a personal stake in how my money is spent.
Governance in Nigeria can't deliver because they are accountable to no one. There is no one around to be critical of the poor choices and decisions that they make. And as a result the average Nigerian will never reap the benefits of democracy.
NNAUSA should open itself to criticism. As long as it is civil and respectful of the privacy of all, every thing should be on the table.
